Arden Reylon had always been fascinated by the mortal realm, and considered himself an expert on the culture and history of the lesser races. For over a century, he had studied the rise and fall of mortal kingdoms: the clash of lords and armies; the rivalries of competing religions, philosophies, and arcane traditions; and the writings of great scholars, generals, and heroes. He might have been content to live out his many years entrenched in the greatest libraries of the Feywild or giving lectures on the ancient realms of Man, but a visitor from Faerun forced him to reexamine how he had spent his long life so far. An elven bard, a mere dabbler in the scholarly arts, put Arden's knowledge of the world to shame with his exciting tales of adventure and intrigue. The troubadour challenged Arden to prove his determination and put his wealth of theoretical knowledge to practical use, and so - with some trepidation - the eladrin has ventured out of the Feywild to experience the making of history firsthand. His first uncertain step into mortal civilization has put him in Brindol, searching for an adventure to get caught up in.
Animated and exuberant, Arden is passionate about his studies, eager to share his knowledge with others and willing to admit when that knowledge has gaps that need filling. He is only a little arrogant when it comes to dealing with others whom he perceives are of lesser intelligence, but no more so than any average eladrin. Though polite and fairly charming, that exuberance tends to spill over into casual conversation, and he has a tendency to be long-winded. He is always excited to meet new people and visit new places, particularly those that might be considered 'exotic' - he carries several journals in which he often jots down notes or makes quick sketches - and seemingly trivial things can make him inordinately happy. He can be a bit naive sometimes, and is fairly gullible and poor at discerning sincerity; sometimes overly optimistic, he sees the best in people and can forgive the worst. In combat, Arden is wary, doing his best to keep a fair distance between himself and enemies; he has studied tactics and warfare extensively and is skilled at finding weaknesses in an opponent's stance or strategy, but lacks the expertise to exploit them himself most of the time. Despite his inexperience, he is openly confident in his tactical prowess.
