Hey it's Rhogar as most of you know me, or possibly Adolan, I probably should have written this earlier seeing as I am already Paragon rank(past 100 posts). I go by the Alias Uber on the intarwebs, pretty common username. I have been liking Dnd since I was about 8 but I haven't had any "Real" games, I have been in a few play by post ones here now though, I have been trying to get a skype game going, but all the people who are interested have been either quitting out on me or have too crazy schedules to play. I would DM, but I would probably "Railroad" too much. If I take my time and write out a story, I can probably DM, and might soon. I know almost everything there is to know about 4th Edition DnD, but I don't know much about the rest of the other popular ones(3.5,3, etc.). I'm planning on joining in on a 3.5 game though soon to try and learn.

Well, mine is still open for members, as is LitheOhm's, I think. Pathfinder, however, would be an easier transition, I think, because it's effectively 3.75. It shares many traits with 4E that 3.5 doesn't. Switching directly from 4 to 3.5 is HELL. I'd know, cause I did the reverse. It took me nearly a month to even START understanding the new rules and stuff from 4. Sheeeeet, I was pissed off a week into reading the PHB1 cause I couldn't find my Base Attack Bonus (>.<). I literally had a fit for like 3 days where I was just thoroughly pissed.
Anyway, point is, Pathfinder is a nice medium. I recommend joining Dent's game, checking it out, and then working your way back to 3.5.

Ya the 4e to 3.5 HAS been hell xD. I still want to make a Forestal paladin in your game, I can send a character sheet type thing to your email if you want.

Welcome Corelands is in fact looking for more members. 3.5 is simple, I think. I learned on 3. Hence why I'm running a stone-age game with generic classes - it doesn't get much more intuitive than that. On the railroading: Check out some of the posts about campaign creation published on the Wizards of the Coast website, there's some great advice there. If the DM has a storyline, then by definition it's railroading to a point. The biggest thing to keep in mind is make it malleable. That is, make your plot reflect PC decisions and actions. I definitely prefer railroad to sandbox games. It's about balance, though, IMO. Anyway, I look forward to PCing beside you, DMing for you and PCing for you ~LitheOhm
